As we’re approaching the end of the year, its time to look back and celebrate our achievements of the past 12 months!

Project No Flow

This year we have been working hard on our 2nd MOSL Market Improvement Fund Project No Flow exploring reasons behind broken water meters and we cannot wait to have a finalised report early in 2024.

Partial WIRSAE Accreditation

In November, the Occutrace team achieved the first and most difficult step in our WIRSAE journey.  This will be transformational as it helps towards us working in Temporary Disconnections & Reconnections of water meters. Watch for more updates as we keep fingers crossed for the progress of the application.

5 years with Business Stream

At the end of August, we celebrated working together with Business Stream for 5 years being a trusted supplier to them.

“By working in partnership with Occutrace, we’ve been able to reduce the number of Long Unread Meters, enabling us to help even more customers understand and track their water use and receive timely and accurate invoices. Thank you, Occutrace, for your on-going support!”.
Mark Doherty, Head of Metering and Billing | Business Stream

We are extremely grateful to be continuing this mutually beneficial partnership.

7th Birthday in our New Office

June was a special month for us here at Occutrace, we celebrated our 7th  birthday! To add to the excitement, we moved into a brand new office space at 100 Brand Street, Glasgow, G51 1DG

Six months later, we are well settled in and enjoying how this new space allows us to boost our collaborative work, and be in more sustainable and modern environment.

Award Nominations

2023 has been an exciting year for awards nominations! In October, we attended the Glasgow Business Awards after being shortlisted as a finalist for the category of Business Resilience.

Even though we didn’t win, we were honoured to be a part of the event and in the presence of such inspiring local businesses.

In December, Natalie Martin, Client Services Manager at Occutrace, was shortlisted as a finalist in the Utility Week Awards for Rising Star of the Year. Identifying and celebrating the achievements of emerging talent within the utilities sector over their short career.

It was a fabulous night for David McKenzie and Natalie Martin to attend in London. Although Natalie didn’t come back with the win, she is still a true star in our eyes!

Team Achievements

This year, our team have also been working hard on their own personal achievements, supporting charities, and growing with some new additions and internal promotions.

  • Lean Improvement

Our Operations Coordinator, Alistair Milne, and DMA Analyst, Patrick Shields, successfully completed the Lean Project Management course through the Andrew Carnegie Business School, a part of Fife College.

  • Personal Development

In August, our UFW Analyst, Shannon McVey, marked a significant milestone in her career by successfully completing her Modern Apprenticeship qualification, attaining SVQ Level 3 in Business and Administration.

  • Team Growth

In our team, we have welcomed some new faces and been able to hand over promotions to established well-deserved team members.

Natalie Martin has been promoted to Client Services Manager. Natalie has been with the company for the past 3-4 years, and she has consistently exceeded expectations in her roles as a Trace Agent and Field Operations Lead. She is a highly skilled and experienced professional, and she is passionate about communications and providing our clients with the best possible service.

We welcomed onboard Frances Youngson as a new Head of Strategic Development and Partnerships. Bringing her experience and ambition, she has been working on maintaining and developing new services while building long-term, and secure partnerships with customers and stakeholders.

One of our other team members, Raymond Moore was promoted to the role of the Field Operations Lead. He is now overseeing our Field & Site Investigators who work with the long unread meters, VIP and cyclic reads. Raymond has also been with the company for several years. He has a proven track record of success in his roles as an agent and a team leader in previous companies.

  • Charitable Activities

We are proud to support charities throughout the year with donations to Social Bite and raising money for Movember.

For Movember we managed to raise over £600 with the end goal of running the Glasgow Green 5k and 10k MoRun which our Social Champion Shannon McVey and Junior Marketing Executive Niamh Boyle completed on a freezing November morning.

Looking back at 2023, we are excited to see all of the achievements and celebrations that are going to come for Occutrace in 2024! We are grateful to all of you, our valued partners and customers, for your ongoing support.

Finally we want to wish you Happy Holidays for Christmas and all the best for 2024, we can’t wait to get back in action and see what the new year brings!
