solutions to resolve Unaccounted-for water (UFW) & Leakage
We offer customised UFW & Leakage solutions. We investigate and validate unaccounted-for water sources on construction sites with detailed reporting and evidence. We detect and verify large consumptions through unmetered, unregistered, or ambiguous connections.
We are experts in resolving key problems that water and other utility companies need to address
What is the challenge?
The water wholesalers are being challenged to reduce leakage by at least 16% in the five-year period up to 2025. Three quarters of the companies are meeting their leakage targets whilst some have decreased leakage by over 10% in the past 2 years.
According to the World Bank Group definition, Unaccounted-for Water (UFW) is the variation between the volume of water fed into a district network and the metered volume of water consumed by the customers. It’s the water that has been used but has not been accounted for in commercial terms. Simply put, neither charged nor paid for.
UFW is a significant challenge for water wholesalers. It potentially costs millions of pounds and erodes essential infrastructure improvement budgets. We pride ourselves in identifying consumptions via detailed site audits carried out by experienced professionals to help water wholesalers to deal with the issue.
How does it work?
- UFW Construction. Physical site investigations and detailed reporting provide insight to unauthorised or unregistered connections aiding the customer’s ability to challenge lost revenue and recoup misleading consumptions within their networks.
- UFW Recon. Targets reconnaissance of large water consumption users to verify these are registered and accounted for. Investigative reporting highlights potential breaches of water usage that impacts water balance and revenue.
Benefits
- Intelligence gathering processes can be deployed quickly and are supported by in-depth pre-site and post-site visit research.
- Demonstratable evidence of site supply arrangements to validate any additional actions that counter lost revenue or misleading consumption.
- A dedicated experienced team that supports our client aspirations and expectations.
