On the 7th June 2026, Occutrace proudly celebrated 10 years in business.
Since 2016, Occutrace has been focused on helping the water market solve complex challenges around data accuracy, field intelligence, wasted resources and revenue recovery. Over the last decade, the business has grown from a specialist service provider into a trusted partner across the UK water industry.
While Occutrace has continued to evolve, expand and strengthen its services, the purpose behind the business has remained the same: to provide practical, evidence-led solutions that help clients act with confidence.
Reflecting on the milestone, David McKenzie, Managing Director at Occutrace, said:
“Reaching 10 years is a proud moment for everyone at Occutrace. When the business was founded in 2016, the aim was to help solve some of the water market’s most difficult challenges with practical support, strong evidence and specialist field expertise. Ten years later, I’m incredibly proud of how far the business has come, the team we’ve built and the trust our clients continue to place in us.”
A Decade of Growth
Over the past 10 years, Occutrace has developed in line with the changing needs of water retailers, wholesalers and the wider market.
Today, Occutrace supports clients across several specialist areas, including Specialist Meter Reads, Vacants, Leakage & Unaccounted-for Water, Data & Technology, and Collect & Disconnect.
Each service area plays an important role in helping clients get closer to the truth behind their data, assets and customers. From locating long unread meters and verifying vacant properties, to identifying hidden consumption, supporting leakage reduction and assisting with compliant revenue recovery, Occutrace provides the field expertise and evidence needed to resolve complex challenges.
Key Achievements
Reaching 10 years is an opportunity to reflect on some of the milestones that have shaped Occutrace’s journey so far.
Over the last decade, Occutrace has become a nationally accredited WIRSAE provider, giving clients confidence that specialist field activity is delivered with the right standards, processes and compliance in place.
The business has also supported important Market Improvement Fund projects, including Project Looking Glass, Project No Flow and Project No One Home. These projects have contributed to wider industry learning around long unread meters, non-consuming meters and long-term vacant properties.
Occutrace has continued to build its reputation as a specialist partner for complex meter reading, hard-to-access sites, vacant property verification, leakage investigations, unaccounted-for water and revenue recovery.
Through Collect & Disconnect, the team has delivered significant results for clients, supporting cash collection, aged debt reduction and compliant field action.
David added:
“Of course, the accreditations, projects and results are important, but what I’m most proud of is the people behind them. Occutrace is made up of individuals who care about doing the job properly, finding solutions and delivering work that makes a real difference for our clients.”
Built on Specialist Knowledge and Field Expertise
Occutrace’s work is often focused on the challenges that sit beyond standard processes.
Long unread meters, inaccurate vacant property records, hidden leakage, non-consuming meters, unresolved accounts and hard-to-access sites can all create uncertainty for clients.
Occutrace helps reduce that uncertainty by combining data-led planning with specialist field delivery and strong evidence capture.
Field teams attend complex sites, locate assets, gather photographic proof, identify access issues, report leaks and provide the information clients need to make informed decisions. Behind this work, office teams, analysts, project leads and client delivery teams ensure each project is coordinated, accurate and aligned with client priorities.
It is this combination of people, process, data and field intelligence that has shaped Occutrace’s approach over the last 10 years.
Thank You to Our Team, Clients and Partners
Occutrace’s first decade has been built by people.
The commitment of the team, both in the field and behind the scenes, has been central to the company’s growth. Their knowledge, resilience and willingness to solve difficult problems have helped Occutrace become the business it is today.
Occutrace would also like to thank its clients and partners for their continued trust and support. Over the last 10 years, these relationships have allowed the business to grow, develop new services and continue delivering practical solutions across the water market.
David said:
“To everyone who has been part of the Occutrace journey so far, thank you. This milestone belongs to the team, our clients, our partners and everyone who has supported the business over the last decade.”
Looking Ahead
As the water market continues to change, the need for accurate data, strong evidence and specialist field support remains clear.
Retailers and wholesalers continue to face pressure around GSS, long unread meters, vacant property accuracy, leakage, debt recovery, data quality and unaccounted-for water.
As Occutrace enters its next decade, the business will continue to adapt, innovate and support clients with the specialist services they need to meet these challenges.
David concluded:
“10 years is a milestone worth celebrating, but it is also the beginning of the next chapter. We are excited to keep growing, keep improving and keep supporting the water market with the same specialist approach that has brought us this far.”
Here’s to the next 10 years of Occutrace.
